Miami Shenandoah Neighborhood Association is a 501(c)3 neighborhood association comprised of caring neighbors working together to build a better more equitable community for all.
Our success is thanks to the efforts of our neighborhood volunteers. Everything begins with them. These are residents that put in their own time and energy to help carry the torch for the neighborhood. We then try to work closely with our city and county officials to achieve goals that are for the benefit of Shenandoah.
Our current projects range from beautification to community engagement. But always, it's about planning, planning, planning. Thanks to our ties with city and county officials, we've been able to come up with some creative solutions that have helped us grow in concert with our neighbors and the master plan. And it all starts with respectful dialogue.
MSNA believes every resident has a voice. "Shenandoah is about us. It's about compromise, it's about progress," says former MSNA Secretary Donna Weaver, "Shenandoah's mission is to identify consensus and to convey that to the proper officials. We know that everyone won't agree but that doesn't mean that we can't move forward as a neighborhood."
Shenandoah extends east-west from SW 12th Ave to SW 27th Ave, and north-south from Calle Ocho to Coral Way. With a spectacular view of downtown, our urban neighborhood boasts over 5,000 households thanks to the many multi-families and small "edificios" peppered throughout the area.
The easiest way to get involved in MSNA is to attend our monthly meetings which are held on the second Monday of the month at 7pm in Shenandoah Park. The meetings are a great way to stay tuned with what's happening in the neighborhood and get your questions answered.
We also host a few annual events including Shenandoah Days in the spring, Halloween in Shenandoah, and our annual Holiday Potluck. Join our mailing list and follow us on Facebook and Instagram to be the first to hear about upcoming events.

Our story began circa 1919 when some of the first plats were established just south of the Tower Theater on Calle Ocho. Soon after, developers from Ohio, Virginia and Pennsylvania rushed in, designing their own sub-divisions, all of which make up the neighborhood of Shenandoah, Miami.
This coveted locale boasts vintage Mediterranean-style homes, schools, parks, churches, and vibrant street life. Captain C. J. Rose and the Belcher family were among the early settlers, cultivating lands that now define the neighborhood.
The post-World War II era saw Shenandoah flourish with the arrival of diverse communities, including Jewish families and, later, Cuban immigrants fleeing political upheaval. Today, it's a melting pot of cultures, epitomized by Calle Ocho's bustling thoroughfare.
Though its fortunes waned after the 1926 real estate crash, Shenandoah has experienced a renaissance in recent years. Restored homes, burgeoning businesses, and a thriving arts scene contribute to its resurgence.
